Mona's Devotional - What is in my Teapot? 05/15/2022

This last year I have learned a lot. Made many mistakes and have been healed of a broken heart. This week marks one year of Caleb’s death. I want to share one of the greatest truths I lived this past year. The Lord showed me that our lives are as teapots. Whatever is in our teapot is what we decide. As a “teapot”, what are you full of? Doubt? Fear? Condemnation? Anger? Strife? Selfishness? When any of these things become a habit or reoccurring problem you get drained empty of the faith you need in the heat of trouble. The wrong thing in our teapot will cause us not to be able to handle the pressure of persecution and hard times or actually just in day. You don’t want to live a life that causes you give in or cave in to the pressures of the world because you have nothing to draw from.  “and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5

“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He said in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” John 7:37-39

“And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live…. for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.” Ezekiel 47:9
What you put in your “teapot” is what will come out. These verses are telling us that the Holy Spirit has been poured out within us and that living rivers of water will flow in those who have received Him. Ezekiel says where the river goes there will be life. Everything will live where the river flows. That is the same in our lives – if we are letting the Living Water – the Spirit flow through us – there will always be an abundance of life.

What you choose to think on and believe is what you will have. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..” Proverbs 23:7 How will what you believe in your heart or have your teapot full of work when there are tough times?
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-9

I need to determine today – now – make up my mind, know beyond a shadow of doubt what I want to be poured out of me. I need to be sure that my heart is guarded and I’m putting His truths in so that is all that comes out of me. This has to be His truth not just feelings. His truths of whatever is true, noble, pure, lovely, of good report, praiseworthy. The Word tells us the answer but sometimes we just want to fill our teapot with whatever and get His results. If you let feelings steer your life, you will be in the ditch!

We each must make up our minds to let His living water flow through us. Get that? Flow through us. That is pouring out of our teapot to others. In the above verses it says to rejoice always – ALWAYS rejoice – then it says to pray and be thankful and His peace will be beyond what you can imagine. It starts with rejoicing or being joyful and ends with peace that is beyond our comprehension and sandwiched in the middle is prayer of thanksgiving. When our hearts determine to walk in love and joy then that is what will come forth from us. It’s not always easy but it’s obedience to His Word ALWAYS brings life!

The Word says there will be trouble in this world. “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.” 1 Peter 4:12-13
He told us in His Word that there will be hard times but He gave us EVERY answer to live victorious no matter what is happening. Joy breaks the power of whatever is keeping us down. His joy. Pour joy in your teapot and see what comes out. Be joyful on purpose, intentionally. This is a verse the Lord gave me this past year that works in my life when I live by it.
“Since we are approaching the end of all things, be intentional, purposeful, and self-controlled so that you can be given to prayer.” 1 Peter 4:7 Passion

This takes faith. Faith comes by hearing the word. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 What is in your teapot is either His Word through the Living Water of His Spirit or your own concoction. I decide, you decide. Don’t wait for Him to do something. It’s what you believe and speak in your heart that will determine what comes forth from you. You have a choice of your thoughts and words. The Lord, the Holy Spirit is already in you and has given you everything you ever need to be victorious but if you don’t believe it and receive it you will live in lack. We are filling our lives and minds with Him, His ways, His Word or we filling it with our choice of problems. Take a little anger, add discouragement plus some fear and you have a poison in your teapot that can hurt and destroy you and those you pour it on. We decide, it doesn’t just happen. Either you are filled up with Him because you are surrendered to Him or the world is filling you with its poison.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.” Isiah 54:17
This is one of my favorite verses. “No weapon formed against you shall prosper”. There are weapons formed against you but we don’t have to let them prosper!!! The Living Water that flows through you will keep these attacks from prospering.

How do you see yourself? What do you see your teapot full of? Doubt, condemnation, strife, anger, fear, selfishness are all identity thieves. They make you forget who you are in Christ! They don’t have faces of their own so they steal yours! “For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:23-25

Faith comes by hearing the Word but faith without works is dead. You cannot be just a hearer of the Word and not a doer of the Word. There is an action. The action is believing with our hearts, intentionally and purposefully getting into the Word and mediating on His truths. Making choices to not look at, listen to or walk in the ways of the world. “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3

Take time to look and see what is coming out of your teapot. If it isn’t what you want, dump it out and be filled with Him to overflowing. Pour out and overflow with Him!
