Words. They are life or death according to Proverbs 18:21. Such a phenomenal, over the top, life changing truth and something most of us don’t treat as powerful as it is.
“Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21
How easy it is, at times, to just blurt out our thoughts, reactions, and attitude. I shared this before but I am so thankful for James 1:5 in The Passion Bible,” And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace”. He overwhelms my failures with His generous grace! I am so thankful.
Even though I know the truth and mess up at times and know His generous grace overwhelms my failures and mistakes, it’s still my heart’s desire to speak life to everyone around me. The other day the Lord spoke to my heart about the words I am declaring that may not be life giving. He said to be “mindful of the frame we place around ourselves, our families, and others.”
What we speak, especially to those close to us, is what will fill the frame. I will give an example.
In our ladies’ group yesterday we took an empty frame and held it up to someone’s face and had others declare His truths over that person. Someone would write down what we all saw. It was a powerful time of ministry for all involved. As the lady in the frame sat and heard what others saw the ladies were listening to the Holy Spirit and giving words of life. This was definitely a time of giving life as some came to the meeting discouraged. Each lady then took her written words and framed them. Just putting that frame around each beautiful lady’s face brought such a focus of who she was in Him.
There are no in-between words according to the Word. There is no taking back of the words we speak that are not life but we are thankful for His mercy and grace. Help others see themselves through His eyes, His truth and love. Love brings boldness and confidence that helps each of us stand fearlessly in our identity of the cross. What are some of the benefits of the cross? Righteousness, Healing, Wisdom, Prosperity, Deliverance, Unconditional Love, Overwhelming our failures with His generous grace. Anything that is a benefit given us through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we must believe, agree and declare for it to manifest in our lives. These truths were deposited in us by the Holy Spirit and we are to draw on them. Take what has been deposited in you. Believe who you are in Him, agree with who He says you are and declare His truth with your words of life and walk in that truth.
Blessings and cursing of our lips are both powerful. Our words release power and attract whatever kingdom our words agree with. That’s such a powerful truth! Blessings are precious, encouraging, uplifting, and life giving. Curses are powerful; to bring fear, doubt, and cause death. That’s what has happened with everything going on in our world today. People are cursing others with the viruses. They speak that it will happen to you, you will die if you get it, you will feel like this and that. The world has been cursed with sickness and it is bringing fear and death. Many Believers are standing and speaking the Truth of who we are and everything we have because of the cross but it isn’t being heard, yet. Yet. It will be heard and will bring life as we continue to speak life and not give up or give in. We must continue to speak extravagant words of love and hope. Speak words of value that agree with the Word.
We need to awaken to our words. The Great Awakening is when we believe, agree and declare our identity in Him and the power of the cross!
The other day Ed and I were talking about things going on in our life and it seems we keep bumping up against something negative. I found that when I was being confronted by whatever this was that I lost my peace, joy and words of life. It’s around us in so many places and we were seeking His Wisdom and Holy Spirit. Then the Lord showed us. One thing is the power or lack of power of being filled with the Holy Spirit. There’s such a wall you bump up against when communicating with others that are not filled with the Holy Spirit. It seems more defined in the pressures of the times we are living in. Then there is the law. We continue to bump up against religion and the righteousness by works, the law. It’s amazing how the whole atmosphere changes when we are in that position. Many of you feel it too with family, work and life in general. Righteousness by works speaks death. There is seldom an encouraging word of hope or life. These people love Jesus but they are caught up in words of death because the law is death. It’s such a sad situation. These folks don’t realize they are bound up in words and thoughts that are not life giving. All we can do is pray, love and declare His truths but knowing what we are up against has given us the power to stand. We believe, agree and declare the truth over these situations and wonderful people so they will know the power of life giving words.
The words we speak, life giving or death, will fill the frame. Notice I didn’t say negative or positive. It’s a truth that words are negative or positive but these words are used by the world. People know that words are powerful but they are trying in their own strength to create what only the Holy Spirit creates. The world is big on the counterfeit of this verse with positive, kind words. That’s important but there’s no life changing power without the Holy Spirt and the Word.
This small verse in the Word will change all of our lives. This truth will change 2022 if we allow it to. It’s impossible without Him. Our words have to give life 24/7. There’s so slacking when we are home alone and no one else can hear. There’s so such thing as words that are just kidding or just saying whatever when no one else is listening. There are no neutral words – in-between words. Words give life or are lifeless. It’s a tough thing to change but we can.
“So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh, my only Redeemer, my Protector.” Proverbs 19:14
It starts in our hearts. “People are known in this same way. Out of the virtue stored in their hearts, good and upright people will produce good fruit. Likewise, out of the evil hidden in their hearts, evil ones will produce what is evil. For the overflow of what has been stored in your heart will be seen by your fruit and will be heard in your words.” Luke 6:45
What is in our hearts comes out of our mouth. The answer to a changed heart is time spent with our Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Being in the Presence of the Lord and meditating on His Word is the only way there is true life change. Soaking in His Word is what will change our words. We need to drink from the well of Truth so we can give His Living Word to others.
Believe His Word, agree with His Word and declare His Word and your words will be His words of life😊!
