I was preparing my devotional for this week when I received this letter. I received this from Vincent and Alice this morning about the needs of the children and next year’s school fees and decided to share it with you. I am thankful he has sent this so we can begin preparing. We will be leaving in 3½ weeks. The school fees are due by mid-December and the new school term starts in January. The younger children are still in a regular school that does not cost.
Vincent and Alice are the parents of 75+ children in Esther Children’s Home in Kenya. We have known them for 10 years now and they have proven to be an excellent young couple (late 30’s and early 40’s). They are diligent, responsible, hardworking and loving parents to over 75 young people who do not have parents to raise them up. They are raising them up in the way they should go with the Good News message of God’s love. They also are Pastors and have a church.
If you would like to help in some special way with their schooling or any of the items they are asking us to bring – it would be an awesome blessing. As far as a phone for Alice, the phone needs to be an unlocked phone – unlocked here. We will be packing our suitcases in 3 weeks, November 19. Anything you can bring before that so we know what we have would be appreciated. You can bring it anytime and leave it downstairs marked for Kenya. We still need dresses/skirts mainly girl sizes 14-16 and all ladies sizes through size 16. They can be second hand if they are nice. Smaller girl size dresses are also great. For the boys we can use shirts of any size. We will not try and take pants or jeans because of room. We can take money and buy them pants there too.
The Kenyan Shilling is 108.30/$1.00. You can go to a currency converter on your computer also for an accurate amount. This can change daily though. Thank you for your great and wonderful support of this family. These children will go on to impact Kenya in a great and mighty way because of your help. Let us know if you have any questions or thoughts.
“Ask of Me, and I will assuredly give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as Your possession.” Psalm 2:8
This verse is God speaking to Jesus saying, Ask - Claim or demand it of me as your right by my promise, the nations – the unsaved and lost. The Lord sends us, His children, to go and share the Good News of His love and righteousness from here in our home town to nations far away. Jesus is going through us. This verse is on my heart and mind so much and I am thankful He has asked us to go and take His love everywhere.
